Hi
I have a 2003 c5 and I have been looking for a cycle carrier. It needs to hold 2bikes.
I don't have roof rack or a towbar
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

Re: cycle carrier
You need one that opens out like scissors as then one section can sit on the lid and another on the boot/bumper lip. You'll need the flat hooks for the sides and bottom but as the top is glass iirc you need the tube bits and then dangle them inside the car as you close the lid and then there is a lot less stress on the glass.
Re: cycle carrier
I'm looking for a two bike bike carrier as well - although realistically I won't have need of it until the spring now...
I sold a Xantia with a towbar and replaced it with one without a towbar! I had come quite close to buying one of the towbar bike mounts, glad I didn't get around to it...
So I'm also curious what there is for Xantia hatchbacks without a towbar or roof rack. Anyone have any pictures of any ? I'm struggling to visualise how they would mount...

Helped fit this to his Audi estate, only two bikes fitted....works well and is reported to be very stable on A roads and motorways. Tail fit bikes get very dirty BTW and covers get ripped in the tail turbulence/flapping.
Oh yes, if you have a motorised rear door, not good to add the weight of bikes onto it....use the roof.
edit....seems not "authorised" for Citroen's

Re: cycle carrier
I have a Halford's 3 bike carrier which worked fine on my '03 C5 hatch.
One of those with a down leg on to the bumper and second on to the glass.
It holds the bikes high so they do not obstruct the numberplate.
only down side wa once fitted, you can't open the tailgate so either load the boot first or otherwise access via fold down seats.

Re: cycle carrier
Is it a hatch or estate? I've an estate and Im unwilling use bike rack that hangs of the back of the car because the plastic spoiler will be taking a lot of the weight. Roof mounted one seems more appropriate to me.

Re: cycle carrier
That's fine so long as it's a lightweight bikeBandit12 wrote:Roof mounted one seems more appropriate to me.

Leave the car at home and ride the bikes to your destination
