Isopropanol Alcohol, which is a good cleaning solvent. I would also get hold of some PROPER contact cleaner (NO, not WD40, although apparently they now do a proper contact cleaner), to help clean the plugs and sockets, especially if they are in an exposed area.

Re: Citroen Automatic Gearbox fault
He says the Gearbox fault has come back . Its starts off OK with the revs being high, like its not changing through the gears properly. He said like doing 50 in 4th gear for example.
after a while it thuds when attempting to change gear, the light comes on then it goes in 3rd gear mode and its a struggle to get out of junctions, start moving from traffic lights etc.
These are his words after running it today.

Steven has just advised that Paris Autos, who KP (Will) recommended will not deal with the Gearbox Issue. Is there anyone else guys can recommend in the Manchester / Trafford area please?
Re: Citroen Automatic Gearbox fault
The closest thing I can find off the top of my head is this place,
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... 1557641379" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Not too far away but still about an hour and a bit but could be worth it.. Sounds like the simplest option to me
Wonder why Paris wouldn't touch it, I guess they aren't auto box experts so would probably want to be cautious with it rather than try and swap bits until it's fixed so can see where they might be coming from

Few general garages will go near an autobox. Always best to take it to a specialists...

That's the one Tom sorry I can't be more help but autoboxes are a dark magic to me and just sap power and fuel!
Re: Citroen Automatic Gearbox fault
Right now have an update to this. Steve got a quote from Tameside Transmissions, who initially gave a quote of £1070 to replace the valve body and drop the gearbox to repair the oil leak. Am glad to say they also said it would fix the problems they were having with the gearbox and it did!!!
They also replaced some sort of switch, no idea what and said they had no need to drop the gearbox as the oil leak was elsewhere. End result cost £700 so they are one happy couple and thanks to everyone, especially Will for the initial diagnosis pointing us in the right direction.
So it anyone needs a good Auto Gearbox place in Greater Manchester, we can recommend these guys.
PS the only other thing if anyone can advise is that the passenger rear door does not lock and no idea why so any suggestions welcome.

That's good Tom...
Sounds like it was the multifunction switch they replaced.. The one that tells the ECU what gear is selected...

Thank Jim have you any idea why the rear passenger door will not lock? I was under the impression initially that it wouldnt open, thats not the case, the damn thing wont lock at all. Any thoughts why that could be?

Re: Citroen Automatic Gearbox fault
It could be down to failed wiring in the concertina sleeve between the door and central pillar. I had this on Gracie, in that her O/S/R would not lock (but would manually), and the N/S/R was deadlocked. Wiring had failed for both, and repairing (soldering in extra length) sorted them both out.

Re: Citroen Automatic Gearbox fault
On the door locking Tom, I concur with James. Check the electrical aspects first and likely you'll find the problem in that concertina. The door will have had loads of use and Citroen wiring is well-known for being a bit on the brittle side...
