Few problems?

Post by oscar »

2001 2.0 HDi picasso have a couple of problems one being the brake lights come on and stay on but if press brake go a bit brighter! Did think switch but would it be that still if get a bit brighter? or is it because closing/opening switch more?
One area did think of is that it has a tow bar and wondering if coming from there? was put on by a reputable company but did use red scotch locks.Grrr hate them as they snip strands of wires inside cables.

The other problem is a bit of surging if say going slow in higher gear like 20mph odd in 3rd it will pick up a bit do they have anti stall? did have it a bit lumpy last night from cold driving slowish was after having running for few minutes sort of thing like in petrol when have bad plug lead

the red scotch locks are meant for thin/smaller gauge wires and will almost certainly damage the lighting wires on most cars,

you could try disconnecting the tow bar electrics at source to see if this fix's the fault,

or maybe someone has fitted a twin filament bulb either the wrong way round or in a single filament bulb holder

Hi might have cured brake light problem? the filament had shorted across to other one but time will tell if that was cause or symptom? AA guy came and had a look even he didn't like scotch locks either said not going in there! [-X
thanks for help.
would like to redo in soldered joints myself.
I changed the bulbs back after having problem with led ones which made side/panel lights show but brake light didn't stay on just high level half lit on side lights but was bright on pedal!

An unusal and interesting fault!
Little doubt that it was the cause, though.
I'll remember that one.

When was made/created or whatever? they'd done with filament arms etc cock eyed to one side so filaments was at similar heights as normally straight up so one is lower than other it had made a sprue across to other one so shorted well ok now so sorted.
