before it snaps   #-o :-D  :rofl2: :rofl2:

i think the interval is around 100K not sure how many years Citroen suggest,
but what ever it is i recon should be no more than three years or the prescribed mileage

Citroen say a ridiculous 150000 miles or 10 years for that car. I have the same car on a 2007 and done 112000 miles and going to do mine as soon as I can afford it. I think citroen and Peugeot dealers will do them for a fixed price of £395 if I remember correctly, but that does not include the water pump which I would do at the same time.

I only paid well short of a grand for the 07 reg. They are not worth much, if it's going good I would be tempted just to keep it. I plan on keeping mine until is gets uneconomic to repair if it breaks

I just replaced the cam belt and water pump on My C5 last week at 147,000 miles which was it's 2nd time, it had been done at 72,000 miles when I bought the car in April 2010 ... recommended interval for mines which is a 2 litre HDI on a 52 plate seems to be 10 years or 100,000 miles... at £220 supplied and fitted I figured out it was cheaper than risking it snapping.

I also had to get the Com2000 unit changed as the car had developed all sorts of issues with the headlights not working and my central locking wouldn't work to unlock the car.. unit was just over £142 from AEP in Glasgow, collected from counter as it's a15 min drive away, and £40 for a local auto electrician to change it and everything's now working as it should be.

My cambelt was also done at 100.000 miles. Waterpump is recommended to be replaced at the same time. I understand the the engine is a bit odd with a chain running one set of valves and a belt running the other. £220 supplied and fitted is a good price. Only thing I was warned is that the correct coolant must be used and not something generic (and blue) off the shelf. Apparently the generic stuff does not offer same level of protection.

If you haven't got rid of it, it could be worth getting the Com2000 unit repaired. Apparently there is a guy in Bradford who repairs them, and I believe he charges £29. If you do get it repaired you either have a spare (in case of failure) or you could sell it on.

Hi Bandit/Hell Razor,

My engines the 8V 2.0 HDI with a single camshaft so it's only got the one belt to change ...I

I'd thought of sending the COM unit away for repair but to be honest I've nowhere to store it (even in the box) and knowing my luck it be broken again if I ever needed it again.... to be honest I'll be gutted if I've to change the unit again anytime soon. I'm not sure who made these originally but my new ones made by Valeo whilst the old one I'm sure is by. Delphi and is by the looks of it possibly the original unit fitted to the car as there's what looks like a manufacturing date of 22-05-02 printed on it.... I've sent a reply back to Malcolm about getting his hands on it as he's welcome to have it, if he can sort it then it's to the benefit of everyone in the group.

Regards

Peter

The 16-valvers have one belt too.
The arrangement is very similar, but the camshafts are linked by a short chain.
