Cheers lads, still getting foiled by the double-barreled naming. Must be a mental block cos you both spelled it out for me

Yep, that is the C5 X7 Exclusive, you can tell as it has laminated glass, it is also fitted with the panoramic roof.
The Exclusive is now the ONLY C5 with Hydroactive 3 (and the big C6 Exec saloon) as has been said.

You can Add to the basic Exclusive with add on "packs", Sat Nav, Full Leather ect can be added

The N/S/F photo of an X7 doesn't look like an Exclusive to me as the roof bars look black rather than brushed aluminium, the roof bars are black rather than brushed aluminium and they're not Exclusive wheels.

As for the latest C5 labeling, regarding VTR & VTR+, I've figured out some people use the term VTX for the VTR+ ... that's not the official naming, but somehow the plus gets turned in an X ... in a way it makes sense ... as for the exclusive badge, someone could easily fit one on the boot, just to throw you off ... unless you have the car VIN, you can hardly even guess what's really under the bonnet/body of the car ... visually, only the biturbo variants (i.e. 3.0 V6) can be easily identified by having two exhaust pipes (but, even that can be retrofitted on any other car variant) ...

Uurrrmm vtx is NOT a typo .. its a fleet rep special model.. annoyingly never with the 2.0 16v hdi only with 1.6 16v or 2.2 16v .. but the vtx spec has sat naff AND cruise as standard for the reps... however.. cruise is simply fitted to ANY mk.1 and facelift c5 if you have a lexia...

I forgot to add vtx to my spec level list earlyer in the thread.. vtx is a facelift only added spec level

Thanks for this info, just what I was asking! I'll be looking out for these. The X7 on the other hand, is likely beyond my budget.

From the response I've got from the whole thread, I have a clearer idea of what I need to be looking for.

A late model C5 Mk1 facelift Exclusive (05 to-08) is the way to go in its 2.0 Ltr HDI with a manual box. You can get a really nice one like these for good money.
On these in estate form the main things that will kill the car (economically) are the clutch and maybe the rear swing arm bearings. Low miles low miles low miles and not a Taxi. (Or a cast iron radiator supplier :) )

Things like leather seat etc are well priced on ebay so upgrades to a VTX with better trim etc is cheaper than a clutch and quite easy. (Except the sat nav but that is crap anyway)

I'm a glutton for punishment apparently, as I got my mind set on the delicate 1.6 engine. What do you mean about radiators, are they another weak-point?

Re the "VT theme", I've just seen a 2006 VTX+ for sale that seems to fit the bill. Pity it's so far and got a reported EGR fault.

stciky meant there are some people who drive around cast iron radiators in the C5 estates (from point A to point B) ... that's something that can kill the car on the long run of course ... :D
