C5 Mk3 Can Bus?

Post by bigblackfalco »

Are all the Mk3 C5's Can Bus operated or is it just the Exclusive models?

I've noticed some strange issues with my headlights not turning on (in manual and sometimes auto modes too).
If I turn the car off with headlights left in Manual 'ON' position, when I restart car the lights do not come on without turning the control stick back to the 'OFF' position and then back to headlights 'ON'.
Is this a standard thing please?

Also, would the Can Bus system tell me if a DRL bulb had failed, as neither of mine seem to work (and I do have the software activated on the steering wheel parameter settings)??

Cheers.

When I had a Peugeot Partner (company van), it would do the same thing. I think the relevant ECUs don't 'remember' where the stalks are last time the ignition was on. It didn't have DRLs though, so I cannot help with them.

Great thanks. Kinda like a defrag on a computer I'm guessing?

Sort of. More like a full PC Shut Down, as opposed to Standby. From what I have read on the forum it clears down glitches very well, PROVIDED the battery is good. The C series Citroens have a lot of electronic systems, and are VERY finicky about batteries. However, if you have a fault (as opposed to a glitch) it probably won't clear, and will need a Lexia session to diagnose it.

Ok does it work on the basis that the battery must be fully charged prior to disconnection, or when reconnected ( in which case I will remove and charge!)

When reconnected. Otherwise you are wasting your time.
