Has it standard aircon or is it climate control?

Climate control if it has it will be the heater resistor to the left of the clutch pedal (if manual gears).

Not sure if standard manual aircon has the resistor in the same place.
Volvo S80 D5.........
C5 2.2HDi Exclusive 2003 manual (now gone).
2009 Renault Megane, the misses drive.
Had a 1988 BX 19TRS Auto many moons ago.
Forgive any spelling mistakes, it's the phone not me.

Don't know where the resistor pack is for that but it will be the fusible link (overheat sensor) that has gone, not an uncommon problem for many cars, not just PSA.
It is possible to replace the link, Maplin's, and many other electronics sources will have them.
The difficult bit is fixing them in place. They are crimped in as the heat of a soldering iron would kill them.

Likely to look like this:

These are for the climate control models:

'Resistor' in question will be similar to this:

I have a vague idea that they are in the passenger footwell/centre tunnel. Someone who really knows will be along eventually with better information.

Is the car an LX with 4 speed fan contoller??

IF SO then the plug to the resister would of over heated and given a bad connection. The resister on base LX models is on the passenger side..

I did a post on it I think on here with mine, But what I actually did was cut the plug off and soldered the wires directly to the resister..

The actual resister was perfectly fine!!!
