Following on from previous advice to use the cigarette lighter on my C5 2.2 auto as a power source for heated seats. One question -how do I remove it so I can gain access to the wires?

Re: C5 cigarette lighter removal
If I remember correctly, lift the gearstick gaiter, which allows space to reach behind the lighter and compress the springs / lugs which clip it in. I'm open to correction, though!

The complete centre console comes out in about two minutes. Pull out the back ashtray there is two screws to remove then the rear part of console comes off then two 10 mm not come off and console lifts out.
