Hi
My '92 ZX 1.9D's central locking is playing up, When I turn the key to unlock the driver's door you can hear the clunking sound as the other doors open. Recently there has been a few seconds delay before they unlock and sometimes I have to slam the driver's door and that often encourages them to unlock. A couple of times I've driven a few miles before they suddenly decide to unlock themselves.
Does anyone know what the most likely cause of this is? Some problem in the driver's door or maybe the control unit?
Thanks.

Re: Zx Central Locking delayed action
It could well be something very simple such as a warped door card, I'd remove the door card and test the system from there before delving any deeper.

Re: Zx Central Locking delayed action
first thing i would do is lub all the lock mechanisms inside each door,
a Cit service agents ( H G Havaux Whatlington Garage on Sir Jim's favorite road the A21 ), we used to tell customers all the locking mechanisms and window regulators require lubing after the winter, to keep them functioning properly

Look out for GT85 in Aldi - far superior to WD40 and only a couple of quid a can if you buy it at the right time - far cheaper than anywhere else I have seen it.citronut wrote:and dont use that orible W stuff as it is NOT a lubricant, but a moisture displacent
