Berlingo cooling fan

Berlingo cooling fan
I have a Berlingo 1.8i Year 2000. The Cooling fan comes on very intermittently. The sensor in the radiator has been changed. The fan runs when tested. Not a problem when on open road but in traffic or town...

Re: Berlingo cooling fan
Welcome aboard.
Two questions. Is the sensor the right type? Did you bleed out any air in the cooling system?

Re: Berlingo cooling fan
As far as I know the sensor is correct. It is the same as the one we replaced and was supplied against the car details, (if you follow me!) We did bleed the cooling system as it was refilled after changing cam belt etc. The problem with the fan not running was the reason for changing the sensor.
When I filled and bled the cooling system I followed the Haynes manual for the 1.8 Xantia, (had one till recently) and the fan did switch on and off.
Thanks for the welcome by the way!

Re: Berlingo cooling fan
Have now bled the system again. The fan now cuts in but only when the temperature is well above normal. Let it cycle three times. Will see how it performs when driving.

Re: Berlingo cooling fan
Have discovered there is another sensor which is located behind the thermostat housing!
