Cheap and easy to replace all of the leak off pipes, not forgetting the "dead end" one, there are no seals on the steel injector unions, you either have a split pipe or a loose union, dropped glow plug nuts usually end up in Narnia
BXs since 1993 built 1.9 TZD turbo, got a S2 Xantia estate, brilliant car! 2013, Xantia HDI LX 110 2000 new car with 122,000, l C2 HDI Rusty rocket, C3 Picasso HDI new to me.

No. 6 on the drawing is from the filter to the pump, and the 6mm pipe under No. 6 is for LHD only,
i thought you were asking about from the primer to the filter 5 and 7 in the drawing?????? which look like 9mm and 7mm

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start
sorry was at work - so the piping is 5+7+8+9 is the line from primer to filter.
ok so a 6mm inline 1 way valve wont fit as it`ll be too small?

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start
replacing leak off pipes next - 1 way valve hasn't stopped the fuel pressure and poor starting

1 final bump - the air in the fuel line has reappeared - watching bubbles from filter housing through the clear pipe.

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start - bubbles fuel line
any ideas? primer needs 3 or 4 squeezes to firm , then itsoftens , and I can watch bubbles in the clear fuel line from filter housing to the pump.
change filter housing? fuel line after 1 way valve?

How good is the squeeze bulb itself - any signs of hardening/cracking? I seem to remember someone on forum replacing the bulb.
How flexible is the rubber hose? From experience, I had a problem with a length of the original rubber hose on my TD, between bulb & filter, albeit 1995 TD so quite elderly, which had become rather less flexible, and didn't like a change of angle where it passed through a support bracket when I'd been playing with the alternator. The net result was a crack on the inside of a preformed bend in the hose, allowing air in with suction, and squirting out when the bulb was squeezed. Easy remedy.
Are the hose clips Citroen originals, or has someone fitted a small jubilee clip somewhere in the line? I find with using jubilee clips on small diameter pipe, it's sometimes difficult achieving a good seal.

Have you checked the valve clearances?

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start - bubbles fuel line
no because theres no room to get the rocker cover off , so if it needs that then its easy start forever

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start - bubbles fuel line
Well I suppose the good news is that you've got rid of the air bubbles, so that should at least have removed 1 reason for non-starting.
I was going to suggest you check the glowplugs, but I see you did that back at the beginning of the year. Might be worth checking that you've got power to the busbar, using either a multi-meter to check the voltage, or a bulb from busbar to earth. It's summer, but I'd still expect a TD to need 2-3 glowplugs to fire up, so if 1-2 glowplugs have failed in the last 6 months, you'd still get ignition with a bit of churning.
