Re: synergie diesel hard work to start
Beru glowplugs are the ones recommended by Citroen and they seem to last longer than the alternatives.
Re: synergie diesel hard work to start
i have always trusted NGK and never had any issues, im not saying these have/had been damaged on fitting, but it is so easy to cause damage by allowing the center pole of the plug rotate on tightening the 8mm nut

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start
haven't been overly well but am pulling them out tomorrow - I have a real feeling its down to them being cheap rather than damage

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start
btw a friend asked me - since the number 1 is so fiddly to get out , if anything dropped , where does it end up?

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start
What are these tales of ECP, interested as they're the only place close to us now & the service stinks, let alone their dodgy pricing system where you see one price and get charged about triple if you don't reserve online... they have fake parts too now?Harlequin wrote:they had ngk part numbers on but I really think they were `fake ` ones

Could well be a batch of fake NGK about, I've had a lot of crap spark plugs for my bikes too the last few years...

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start
currently my thrust release bearing is in possible need of replacement - its under a year old and a supposed LUK part from ECP.... but it really isn't right.
Malcom knows more than I do - they got fined for selling fake parts

RIP Unipart, that's all I can say... never had any issues when we had one of their outlets to go to, and everything was always in stock too. if ECP's crap service hadn't been enough, that would tip the balance in favour of finding a new favoured independent shop near us... If there still is such a thing these days

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start
sorry to bump BUT
think I`ve managed to narrow down the fuel issue - after tracing all the pipes (and no leaks) - im angling on a seal in the pump as being `old`and weeping slightly?
would this cause the system to depressurise when engine is off and needing hand pumping? and air in the fuel line?
malcom
also sourced the wet on the injectors - its oil from the rocker cover.

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start
Back to the beginning. There are 2 common faults on these engines for hard starting after the vehicle has been stood for a while.
1. Glow plugs
2. Diesel leak back. The easiest solution is to fit a check valve in the fuel line. Minor weeps from seals and leak off pipes do not normally cause this problem.

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start
glow plugs replaced with high quality , and since I have to pump - I`ll say number 2 is needed!
the pipe though is rather old and hard - so replacement as well?

Re: synergie diesel hard work to start
so - we have a fuel leak
after it wouldn't start for love nor money last night , breakdown had to come start me
could smell unburnt diesel in the engine bay.
after running for 10 mins or , popped head back under bonnet and still smell of unburnt diesel.
so - which pipes or shall I replace the entire damn lot? the breakdown chap said it could very well be the seals on the `metal` pipe joins into the engine which could be leaking and spraying a fine mist (apparently its where they can go) and not the pipes themselves?
