Xsara Picasso HDi 2000 Clutch Pedal
The clutch pedal of my Xsara Picasso HDi 2000 seems to have gone down to the bottom and will not come up. It can only move a centimeter when pressed. This just happened one minute it was fine the next it was like this. I searched the forums and some say its a leaky cylinder but I believe my Picasso uses clutch cables because I had them replaced less then a year ago. Also the Dot4 level is between min and max and has not changed after this incident. Any ideas?

Re: Xsara Picasso HDi 2000 Clutch Padel
Hi well it's one or other cable or hydraulic and fluid levels stay the same if internals seals have gone which is more normal but could be an actual clutch issue but more likely master cylinder fault.
but someone clever will be along soon!

Strangely enough I pulled the pedal up with my foot and it stayed up. I could drive the car but the pedal still does not feel 100%. Any ideas on what the fault might be welcome.

Quite possibly one of more of the spring fingers on the clutch has broken off, causing it to jam down. It will probably get worse....

No picassos have cable operated clutches. The cables you refer to would be gearchange cables. The fluid level wil;l not give you ay indication of fluid loss as the clutch uses a seperate chamber in the back of the resevoir wich can empty completely without your fluid falling below the min mark. Either the master or slave cylinder is at fault (or even both)

Thanks flying clutchman. You are right it was the gearchange cables that were changed just after the clutch change. Will take it to a garage tomorrow morn hoping it will not be an expensive fix.

Try the helper spring on pedal as mine is weak so pedal don't always come to top so have to give it a toe job
