flat battery, key doesnt work in locks, locked out of car

Post by fotobright »

Howdy,

Todays condrum is:

I changed over the high pressure regulator the other days, it turned out not to be a working replacement as when I turned the car over it wouldnt start. Anyways..

Went the unlock the car there with the blipper and and no response from the car, went to try both locks with the key, which I never normally use and they are either gummed up from lack of use or the key for the door locks is not the ingnition lock. I've had the car a year and not had this problem before. I think the battery is flat from trying to start with a faulty HP regulator.

I've just put wd40 in the locks to see if that and a bit of wiggling will free one of them up.

If that doesnt work how do I get into my car? You'll see I posted about this car before with other issue

Any ideas appreciated

The wd40 and key wiggle seems to have worked....

just an idea but is the car an estate or hatchback? If so then does it have a keylock for the boot? Very odd that the key wont open the doors yet works in the ignition. Have you got a spare key you could try? WD40 in all the locks should help if they are gummed up with lack of use.

WD40 won't do your locks much good in the long run, and will probably gum them up again.
I'd be inclined to wash it out with something like brake cleaner, then using proper graphite lock lubricant.
