Re: Identify this part please.
Try using a hair drier on the membrane where the sealing mastic is. That might work.

Re: Identify this part please.
On Gracie it is a foam like sheet, a couple of mm thick. Good for sound and heat proofing. Safestore sell it, but it is in smaller dimensions.
Her temperature sensor is also on the nearside wing mirror.

Re: Identify this part please.
Membranes are available - I've got one waiting for when I get a window regulator. £44 + VAT I think.

You should see how much they want for a new regulator!

Re: Identify this part please.
AFAIK it is just clipped on - slide it forwards and it should come off the door. Or I am talking bollox...
Part numbers and prices for the membrane:
Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00009365C2 SEALING 44.26 GBP 53.11 GBP 53.11 GBP
00009365C3 SEALING 44.26 GBP 53.11 GBP 53.11 GBP
I just cut them carefully, and then re-attach with duct / parcel tape as required.

Re: Identify this part please.
Do you mean the lock button? It's over 10 years since I last did battle with one of those but seem to remember it's getting them back on that's the hard bit. Does this topic help? http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... 4&p=156941" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Re: Help with door stay ...
I presume you mean the check strap has become stuck in the closed position and you need to extend it, so you can attach it to the pillar.superloopy wrote:Any quick way to get this door stay OUT of the door itself. Is it just brute force that's needed or was there a 'technique' that I should have followed when fitting the door? Hope it hasn't got to come off again ...
It would probably be easiest to remove it, extend it on the bench in comfort, then refit it in the door.
It should be, as you suggest, simply brute force, but finding a way of applying brute force without risking damage to the surrounding paintwork could be a problem. It will almost certainly be held on the door by two nuts, above and below the aperture it sticks through. They are surprisingly bulky, so you may have to tease it around the window runner, or other door furniture, but once out it will be childs play to extend the strap. Might also be a good time to apply a little white grease to the rollers and springs...

Re: Help with door stay ...
Hmm.
I suppose you could push it all the way in and the rollers would probably close over in front of it, but I haven't seen it.
The springs are strong, designed to be worked by a long lever (the door), so separating the rollers with hand tools to allow the strap back out might be a job for PopEye after his can of spinnach.
It really isn't a big deal to take the whole assembly out of the door, provided you have the patience to figure out how to get it around the other gubbins in there. Once out it will become a trivial matter to extend the strap. And the time to do it is while the membrane is already off...
Honestly, it's probably taken longer to write about it than it would have done to do it!
