lexia help.

Post by nigel517 »

Now purchased a lexia kit that comes with v47 update and loads of leads!
still struggling with the download. It all appeared to be ok until the V47 update then it didn't like the authentification codes. So Im going back to a new reinstall up to v27.
My main questions is what do you do with the battery terminal leads ? Do these need to be connected ? It powers up from the usb.

Thanks Nigel

Hi Nigel,
I've just started using a Lexia so am no expert, but I haven't had to use the battery terminal leads yet. I have managed to do a global test and go into individual areas and perform various tests with just the lead between the car socket and the laptop. I am having problems connecting to all the areas so perhaps one of those is where you use the battery terminal leads. Someone is sure to answer soon - I'd like to know what they are for to!

Looking at getting Lexia so I can sort out the Citroen on my drive should it ever need it. Where did you get it from, if you don't mind me asking? A link would be most useful

I think you will find that the extra leads are for taking measurements such as voltage and current flow in various circuits and at the battery. The software will tell you if you need to connect them depending on what you are trying to diagnose.

Ditto with JJ Diagnostics, good service and worked straight away.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

The lead with the two battery clips and the two pin plug is only for very old models like BX, S1 XM, ZX and so on. The Lexia needs power from the car to work - on more modern cars that use the 30 pin connector (S1 Xantia) or 16 pin OBD-II connector (S2 Xantia onwards) the power comes from one of the pins on the diagnostic socket.

On the old models with a two pin connector there is only ground and data so the power has to come from battery jump leads. Unless you're diagnosing a really old car you won't need that lead.
