C5 front bumper mounts

Re: C5 front bumper mounts
Someone will come up with a diagram soon, but the top of the bumper clips into the bodywork in a not altogether obvious way. If this is not done correctly, it can be a bit floppy!
Re: C5 front bumper mounts
Whereabouts is it floppy? Wing, bottom front section, near wheel arch?
Have taken bumper off several times and it does require a bit of knowledge of the fixings. Has it been removed recently by someone, perhaps who didn't quite know how it went back on?
Also, bear in mind that it will be attached to the wheel arch liners and the engine under tray so if these fixings are loose or missing it can move about a bit.
Which model do you have as that can also make a difference. I have VTR and Exclusive versions and the under trays and wheel arch liners, as well as the bumper sections, are different even though they look identical and were made in the same month!
Finally, spec can make a difference. My Exclusive has the lane departure system which means it has sensors dotted around the front which all make a difference to the bumper fixings and other various bits of plastic.
Maybe if you can post a picture we can help further.

Re: C5 front bumper mounts
Hi, thanks !
it seems to be moving mostly next to the front wheels each side, but also i can lift the bumper up a little right at the front, by putting my hand in the splitter section and lifting it moves. the car is a 2004 facelift VTR, only things this bumper has is fogs.

Re: C5 front bumper mounts
There should be fixings within the wheel arch which screw into the bumper sections. Also, raise the suspension, prop the car with axle stands then take a look underneath. It will probably be obvious which bits have fixings missing. If everything is in place,, wheel arch liners, bumper, engine under tray and front lower bumper section then it shouldn't move about that much. Sometimes fixing points get broken. My engine under tray is now held on with tie wraps and doesn't move about at all.

Re: C5 front bumper mounts
I took a photo last time I had my bumper off. See the projections on the top edge of the bumper which slip into slots on the lower edge of the wing. When the bumper is removed, it needs to be pulled forwards slightly then outwards to clear the clips from the slots. Rough handling can easily snap off the clips, leaving the bumper unsupported.
