Oil - 52 reg Xsara 2.0 HDI 110

Post by smoker »

I see the handbook say 5-40 grade required. However I have a stock of 10-40 which I'd really like to use up. How critical is the 5-40 requirement on these engines please?

Many thanks

It's not critical I use 10w40 as do many others - they'll specify a range of oils to use depending on the climate you're using the vehicle in. But so long as it conforms to the correct specification it'll be fine.

I use cheap-as-chips part-synth 10w40 changed at the OEM spec 12k interval, as did a good chum of mine who put a quarter million miles on a 110HDi before the rot ate it.

Your mileage may vary.

Merry oil-changing!
