My auto C5 has got very notchy of late coming out of park. Its never got stuck in park yet but I'm starting to get worried.
I've read various threads about this problem and the usual culprit seems to be a faulty relay. My question is : Does anyone know where this relay is? After spending hours hunting under the dash and behind the glovebox I couldn't find it anywhere despite hearing a clicking noise whenever I press the brake pedal.
I did find the switch which is activated by the brake pedal and then traced the wires back straght into the bulkhead which makes me think the clicking noise is actually the switch itself and that the relay is in the engine bay somewhere.
If all else fails I guess I'll take it to he nearest dealer though as I live in Orkney its 2 ferries and a 120 mile drive - hence having a bash at it myself.
If anyone can enlighten me I would be very grateful. Many thanks.

Welcome to the C5’s transmission problems.
The solenoid is below the gear stick.
If it clicks, then it works; but the so-called ‘detent pin’ may be broken.

Thanks for that. I'll check it out.
The thing I forgot to mention was that if its a warm day or the car's been on a lengthy journey it often works just fine. Its almost as if there isn't quite enough juice to fully retract the pin?

My x7 just had the relay replaced and now it's perfect.
Mine too was better in the heat, until it was getting so bad I started leaving it in N to make sure I could drive off.

I've got a feeling its the relay but even if it isn't it would be nice to be able to replace it if only to eliminate it from the equation.
But no one at Citroen Inverness or Aberdeen know what the relay part no is or where its located. Hence the question on here in the hope that someone might know.

Those dealers’ job is to find out when they’re asked to.
