Neil, Chris and everybody else,

I was very careful when grinding down the lip to a point where the lip merged with the rest of the cylinder and stopped. If there was a little left I used an small hand file.
I think the main thing is slow and easy constantly checking where your are grinding the lip and stop immediately when gone.

Chris's technique of using sealant with the dowty will even out the minor differences between the sphere and the cylinder and I hope a permanent seal.

I've put the cylinder back on today and refitted the return pipes what a PITA. I'm going to get long nose forceps (10" long or 250cm for those need metric) to make sure the return pipes are fitted fully on. There would be nothing worse than a leak from there after fitting every thing back on the car.

I think you really mean 250mm, otherwise it might be a case of overkill, always assuming you could get them on to the fitting :-D :-D

Well guys and gals,

I thought I would have a look at the n/s rear cylinder in case I need to remove it once I get my o/s rear finished off this weekend.

I have sprayed with plus gas and guess what the pin came out without nay problem and the pipe end supply feed has moved as well. It makes me wonder if both cylinders have been replaced in the past due to the lip corrosion issue with other 2nd hand cylinders.

Are the early C5 cylinders the same or what is the difference.

When we were up in Edinburgh at the end of April, I did notice your conkers were much further on than ours in Northumberland! Maybe its the microclimate of Edinburgh extending up to Newtongrange :) that requires less salting of the roads, and less corrosion of Xantia rear cylinder pins!

Conkers or not I was surprised that both sides were so easily removed! I even didn't have to employ

Hi all,

I made use of the sunny weather and started the old girl up. No leaks from the plumbing and did a bit of citrobotics.

Immediately notice the rear end's movement is so much better.

All I need to do is bleed the brakes and prepare for MOT :-D .

Hopefully it will be a good week.
