Xantia S2 Electrical Maladies..

Post by Northern_Mike »

Heater blower, heated rear window, passenger side electric seat all not working. Common cause or all unconnected? S2 V6.

Have checked some fuses. No longer appear to have manual with a listing of which is which. Gave up when it started to rain.

Fuse F5 (10A) dashboard is for heated rear screen timer and switch, heated seats relay, and daytime lamps relay.

I have both versions of the Haynes BoL, 2 different Xantia handbooks, and a bad case of boredom. I also have a fair number of spare fuses.

Thanks James. It's not the seat heaters, it's the actual seat movement that's stopped working, as has the heater blower. The seat isn't essential as yet but the other two are.

I wonder if a maxi fuse has quit. Looking through Xantia book X2-GB-4001 there are no fuses mentioned that control the movement of the seats, just the heated component.

Looking at internal fuses, F20(40A) feeds the electric seats, while F21 (30A) deals with the air con or heated air blower, and the AC ECU.

No. All fuses in the inside fusebox are intact.

Drat. That suggests a maxi fuse, but neither of the Xantia handbooks or the Haynes BoL cover these.

Can you get the RPO number. Firing up Sedre to see if that has the fuses.

I wonder if it is the ignition switch or a relay? 40A for one item is a heck of a load. Sedre is asking for an RPO number, so I can try and find any commonality on the circuits.

Xantia S2 have a power relay for heater blower under the carpet in pedals area.
Maybe this topic will help you: http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... =3&t=41818" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If the relay is working, remove the carpet under the glovebox and check the connectors and power supply wires from blower and brushes from engine. In many cases the red power supply wire is the problem because oxidation. In any case a multimeter will be helpfull to check voltage from connectors and wires.
Good luck!
