Hi folks. Is there a trick to the remote locking after changing the fob battery? Have to lock manually which is a pain cos the lock is a bit old and worn.
By the way how does the electrickery work? Doesn't need the fob battery for the fuel pump solenoid/ immobiliser?!
Thanks!

Re: Remote locking
If it is an RF key fob (it should be, based on the car year), what you do (after changing the battery) is to switch on the ignition and then press the buttons on the remote. That should get it working.
The reason the immobiliser bit works (without a good battery) is that it is a separate chip, triggered by an inductance circuit built into the mounting around the ignition key slot.

Re: Remote locking
Thanks! When my brain's working I shall look that up. Induct sounds rather medical.
Had already tried ignition on and button pressing, and door opening, tried using the spare key too to turn the ignition on. The CB in the key looks a bit tarnished.
Shall check the new battery first.

Re: Remote locking
Erm just got round to looking at this again. The replacement fob battery was a bit duff so replaced it again. New fob battery tests fine but remote looking is still not working. Can I replace the circuit board and how would I program it?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Remote locking
To program a Series 2 Xantia remote fob you'll need access to a Lexia and the four character confidential code that originally came on a credit card with the owners manual. (If not the code can be obtained for a fee from Citroen or elsewhere)
If you have those its only 5 minutes work to program the keys and fobs for someone who has done it before.
