Help please - c5 mechanic needed

Post by pioneerx »

Hi

The suspension pump has failed on my '02 2.0 HDI C5, it's stuck on the lowest setting. Have checked the electrics and power is getting to the pump unit so guess new pump required. Cannot afford to go to main dealer (quoted over £1000 for pump only). Does anyone know of a good citroen mechanic in the Hillingdon/West London area?

The following link is a list of garages recommended by members (although there is at least one the a member has recommended you DON'T use!);

This is becoming a recurrent issue and there are several threads devoted to it, many cross-linked to one another.

Have a gander at these and see if anything helps:

Hi thank you for your comments/suggestions. Hubby tells me the suspension fluid reservoir was empty (oops). We have refilled with the correct oil, but there is no sound coming from the pump. We have read that it might need priming (this can be done with bicycle pump) but we wonder whether this will work if the pump isnt making any noise and how much air we need to pressurise the system with. It if comes down to replacing the pump, is it a very difficult job to do as hubby has limited mechanical knowledge? Have contacted local garages who wont touch it. Cannot afford main dealer costs but really dont want to scrap the car, she starts first time and has never let us down :-(

If you say power to the pump but not working then get another pump plenty on ebay or try local breakers.

Should be plenty of information on here on how to change.

I changed my power steering pump the other month and lost a lot of fluid. I did not have to pressure up the system just added fluid.

Hope you get if sorted and do have have to scrap the poor car.
