I discovered the caliper corrosion on my Xantia before it became serious. Scraped off the corrosion and applied plenty of copper grease to both mating surfaces, and no problem ever since. Seems to me grease is a bit easier to apply than making up some form of gasketHell Razor5543 wrote: I intend to put some form of gasket between the callipers and trailing arms next time I do any major work in that area.

Hi All,
I collected the car there at 4pm fom the garage with the bill coming in at £120 to supply and fit a new Caliper..... the good news was that the disc was fine and didn't need replacing.... so thankfully that's every thing sorted for another wee while.
I was thinking of getting my timing belt and water pump done soon but as it's only 65,000 miles since it was replaced I think I'll hold fire on that for a few months as that's the recent expenditure over the last few months on the car approaching £500.
