Saxo - Clutch Adjustment

Post by kennick »

Saxo 1.4D R reg. I find it virtually impossible to adjust the clutch by following Haynes (measure the high and low points against the steering wheel). The difficulty is caused by the rotation of the pedal as it is depressed. Please can someone describe a better method?

Try the opposite way -
Opt for an optimal height above the floor.
In the BX the clutch pedal is adjusted for a height of 145mm above floor. This is more accurate - as you then optimise for any extra carpets/floor mats you may be using in your car.

It doesnt matter really where the clutch is, as long as it makes full engagement and disengagement. The distance specified by Haynes or Citroen would be a middle figure that allows for many tolerances.
When I drove a Saxo, I adjusted the clutch so that my size 14 feet would fit under the pedal while on the footrest.
That was coincidentally exactly the same distance as the Citroen spec, but the short cutting dealer adjusted the clutch pedal to "we always put them about the same height as the brake pedal..." which is different!
