Xantia steering rack gaiter

Post by xf1ref »

Hello to all, I want to change the gaiter from the power steering ram side and I found over the internet that is a way with a stretchy gaiter.
Now I have the stretchy gaiter but how to remove the power steering ram from that stud. If anyone know please share [-o<

Take the nut off and then move the steering from side to side a little, then gently lever the ram off the stud. Did this job a few months ago and it is horrible getting the gaiter on. I ended up levering it with a blunt round ended kitchen knife. Good luck!

Thank you Jaf, I removed the nut but without moving steering from side to side and thought I have to remove the back screw from the ram, a torx t55. Tomorrow I will try again to get the ram of the stud.

Thanks to all..I did it today and took 2 painful hours under the car with a lever and some gearbox oil to slide. Hope this stretchy gaiter to resist some years.
