End of the road for my c5

Post by djjtl »

My trusty C5 has completed it's last Journey :(

I have owned it for 3 years and while it's had problems for a car of that age it's been the best car I have owned

The multi belt snapped last weekend and while at my local Citroen specialist I was given the news that the rear bearing was knackered.I was quoted £400 to replace both bearing and arms.

I have now gone and bought a cheap run a round because with the cost of taxing and repairing and moting the car to keep it on the road would set me back close to £1000 as I can't do the work myself

The car's engine and gearbox are solid and I replaced the clutch 12,000 miles ago its covered 129000 and is very economical

I'm seeing if there is any interest on here for the car before I get the breakers to collect. Tax runs out on Monday and mot expires 16/04/14

It is the lx 90 bhp estate 2003 model. I fitted a light grey leather interior and also has the roof rails and genuine alloy's including spare

Bad points
Rear bearing repair
Two tyres required for the front
Stereo only works on am radio and cd
One key
Tensioner required for multi belt as it's noisy
Front drop link needs replacing

If any one would like the car you can contact me via pm. The car is located in Widnes Cheshire

What's a Multi belt?

I'm obviously massively in love with my XM but I may be persuaded to replace it with something a bit more modern.

Suspect it the auxilliary/serpentine belt that runs alternator, power steering and compressor.

I scrapped the car the car today :(

I have removed a light grey leather interior including door cards and the parcel shelf and dog guard.

I also have a brand new genuine detachable tow bar which I never got round to fitting.

One pair of genuine Citroen Aluminium lockable roof Bars

I will post these items in the for sale section no reasonable offer will be refused
