The front ns footwell of my Xantia 1997 S1 is damp most of the time , and also (a little bit) the rear nearside footwell .
unbelievably , it seems to be the door rubbers that are causing the leak .
They are intact but seem 'flattened' somewhat .
Is this a known issue with xantias and do i need to buy new or get 2nd?
thx

Are you certain its not that the scuttle panel has come away from the windscreen?

Re: Xantia door rubber leak
My Xantia leaked into the near side rear footwell, but my drive slopes, and the nearside is "uphill". I fixed it - bizarrely - by making holes in the seal.
What I surmised was that water was collecting in the vee between the outer seal and the inner section that covers the carpet.
My fix was to make a couple of holes between the base of the vee and the outside edge. Worked a treat and cost nowt.
That said, a wet nearside front footwell does indeed suggest the plastic scuttle is no longer sealed to the windscreen.

the usual cause of water gathering on top of the bottom run of door seal, is likely to be the door card membrane missing or damaged, which allows water entering the door cavity to run out from behind the door card and onto the top of the door seal

Re: Xantia door rubber leak
Thx for the replies , the car is parked up just now , but will check out these suggestions .
the windscreen seal looks sound to me , the carpets are so thick that i could nt really tell if water (and it is water)was
coming down from under/behind the glove compartment .
But i have seen water on top of the bottom door seal rubber , the door has little drainage slots on the bottom but i will recheck it all .
thx again .

you are aware its the bonding between the plastic scuttle and windscreen that need to be sealing????
if rain water gets between the plastic scuttle and screen it will go straight into the car through the heater air intake

Re: Xantia door rubber leak
Is it an estate ? It couldn't be coming in the tailgate could it? Mine used to fill under the rear seats and then work its way forward.
