ESP / ASR not functioning

Post by ej2095 »

Morning all

I got this yesterday while driving about 25mph

Stopped car turned off and back on still came on.

So stopped car again at traffic lights pulled off lighty and it stayed off.

Jumped in car this morning started car and it came back on untill i drove about a mile or so stopped car turned off engine again restarted and it stayed off

Car did not go ito limp mode nor no anti pollution.

I did have the brake pads changed last week mind you.

Also seems to come on if road is wet and it was very very damp this morning...

You may have a speed sensor at wheel which has been disturbed.

Check all wiring in and around abs sensors at wheels. ABS and ESP are usually related in circuit.
It could be connections elsewhere, all the way to and from your ecu that deals with these functions. Wiring may even be under a seat.
I am not familiar with C5.

A faulty dash switch was the reason for my fault.....just after starting, and with the mode not showing as a fault, try the switch, mine thru a fault up when switched to off. I presume it was bridging but I hand one close by so I switched the module and all was OK.
More likely at the wheel end I would guess however.

Will do

Get some electrical cleaner on the dash switch. as well

Poped on a couple of times over the weekend but was fine.

Just wait for the hail/snow/wind to bugger off first

Is your steering wheel centered after the new brakes were fitted, did they adjust track rod ends? I found i kept getting the same message after having the tracking done because the steering angle sensor noticed the steering wheel/front wheels weren't in unison. We then had to shorten one track rod end and lengthen the other to centre everything up and the message went away.
