Bought Citroen Ami Super last night!

Post by chrisjvm »

Hello all....
Bought said vehicle on EBay last night, unseen!
Just wondered if anyone on here viewed this vehicle
Or knows of it?
Engine's knackered apparently but comes with a replacement (scratches head!)
It comes up as a Super 1015cc on txt check but are there any definitive checks I can make
To make sure it isn't a standard Ami with a GS engine transplant?

Many Thanks

Great news! We have an Ami 8, I have a GS 1015 engine that was full rebuilt, but the. The cambelt failed. #-o

Will need a head off & valves I reckon, but will be useful to someone.
We have a few other Ami bits , if you get stuck.

Nice...!

IIRC the super is built on a different chassis, so it's very difficult to just shoehorn a GS engine in.

I believe the Ami (non-super) was built on a very similar chassis to the 2CV. It's a complete pig to get a GS motor into one of these. I know this from bitter experience. My brother runs a 2CV with a GSA 1299cc motor in it, but that is just a 2CV body on an Ami Super chassis..

the super runs a GS 1015 engine Richard, and you can stick any of the GS/A limps straight in,
its the G 5 speed box that is difficult to drop into an Ami super,

i thought the G engines were safe if the belts failed,

Ah, what I meant Malc, wast that it is diffcult to shoehorn a GS engine into a std Ami... therefore this is most likely a pukka Ami Super.

Well gents .... Suffice to say.... I hired a trailer, drove up to Chorley and came back without it...
I could say a lot about it and the vendor... but I wont!
So I am now not the proud owner of a Citroen Ami Super... Though I do own a Peter Russek pocket mechanic book for said vehicle which I purchased on EBay this week :-D
