Yes, I use a flower press.

Might not need Malcolm's tea anyway. Don't want to put him out if this is a pig of a job. I'm thinking of sticking it on eBay with the spare slip ring and pipe (and MOT fail sheet) inc tax for £400 just so I don't have the hassle of it. A shame but...

I always use a steam iron, revives them a treat

Do you have a way of cutting and joining the pipe Malcolm? I've kind of traced it back to the tray - I know it goes there but I haven't checked which one? I only have male ends - i.e. the ones that screw into the K pieces, and yes, it is 3.5mm pipe and I have 5.5 metres of it, in two 2.something metre lengths, one of which is already flared and has the ends on.

Everything has been soaked in plus gas, including the subframe mounting bolts.

I'll say I'll be there, but I will have to confirm tomorrow after yet another visit to the neurologist for a scan..

If you grab cunifer line from a clutch, this usually slips over the 3.5 hydraulic tube. Brazing completes the process.

i stoped a citro blood bleed on a DS a while back by cutting and brazing a small section in, as the pipe that had gone was one of a bunch from a block, which required engine and box out to replace,

it is not easy as the heat causes the citro blood to keep weeping from the joint, which make it hit and miss to achieve a good joint

Paste (borate) flux is the key, not the liquid. Night and day difference in uptake.

Still need to blow as much fluid out as you can. Have done an identical repair to the one you described, BVH Safari and a rat's nest of piping.

Whoop whoop!
Well done guys.
I've been following this with interest, because replacing pipes under cars is one of my pet hates.
Yes, Kunifer is definitely the way to go, but even then there's an awful lot of plumbing under a Xantia, compared to anything else I've ever done!
Thankfully my pipes got the all clear today, so I won't have to play with them while the car drips on me and the wind howls around me.
I'll give them a once over in the Summer, while I'm attending to the dissolving rear wing.
