Most are easy to change, the caveat being common incidence of corrosion to the piston under its dust boot. This, when you wind the piston back into its bore with the rewind tool, jams the piston somewhat and may either cause fluid leaks or a sticky caliper in service.

They are not difficult but I haven't done them for so long now I have forgotten, you do have to wind the calipers back, you can get a tool for not to much money but I have always managed to improvise. I always get my pads from Ebay, they are the cheapest and I have never had a dud set yet.

Peter

Sorry, just realised the last ones I did were on the XM but I would think the C5 are similar.

Note that the C5 calipers wind back in opposite directions (I can never remember which is which), and use a drop of Loctite on the bolts - they can work loose otherwise.
Check too that you buy the correct sized pads, as there are three sizes over the model range.

Hi, have you done brake pads before? how much of a novice are you? Should you be messing with the brakes?

Don't take it the wrong way just thinking of your safety mate.
