Where have the old topics gone?

Post by harryp »

Hi Guys. Looking for the back topics on Lexia etc and all seem to have disappeared with the msg - not in the time frame = or similar; also with the "wonder" piece on tracking with innovative use of laser levels...
I'm still having problems using diag box!
Is it possible for the "Lexia" bits to be edited into a "sticky"?

All posts are still there. None have been archived for some time although it is probably time they were.
Use Google advanced search and put the forum in the "Site or Domain" box.

Thorter's DIY laser wheel tracking is here, starting on page 2, with my version of his system on page 3:

http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... 0&start=15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I just searched for "wheel tracking", with my username (since I posted in the thread) to narrow it down and it came up.

That one is worthy of permanent archiving IMHO, for the price of a couple of cheap laser spirit levels, some bungee cords and a few lengths of wood its possible to do an absolutely precise job of the wheel tracking within a fraction of a millimetre the first time - I'd venture to suggest its actually more accurate than the method most laser alignment "experts" use as rolling the car back and forth half a wheel revolution cancels out nearly all sources of error, and is easily 10x more accurate than trying to measure between the tyre beads with a measuring rod or tape.

I was having terrible trouble with the tracking on mine but ever since I set it with this method it has been bang on - steering wheel perfectly centred, pulls to the centre, tracks well and feels good at speed. Well recommended instead of paying chumps good money to mess it up!

My thanks to Razor, Myglaren and Mandrake! Will try again!
Have been setting tracking with a bar - What a performance and already looking for laser levels, Screwfix etc.
Must agree on a "sticky" for the laser tracking; is this a Moderator jobby?
Thanks again guys

Just double checked, the link works fine for me. Must be a browser problem at your end!

Try using a different browser and see if that helps...

Link works perfectly, suspect you have a browser problem.
Try clearing the cache - chicken soup for browsers.

Harry,

Click on "User Control Panel" at the top of this page, Then select the "Board Preferences" tab, then select "Edit Display Options" at the left hand side and make sure the "Display posts from previous days:" setting is set to "All Posts". I just tried changing mine to 2 weeks and it resulted in the behaviour you described.

Mike.

Mike, brilliant!! Edited the user control panel as suggested and straight in. Wonder what I inadvertently did to screw it up? Never mind, now know the cure. Step one, hopefully now on the way.
