2005 Phase Two Citroen C5 Cruise control SORTED!!!

Post by citroenxm »

Hello Fellow C5ers..

Heres one for you...

Mums got a 2005 Phase Two C5 1.6 HDi Design.. I obtained a Cruise stalk and today installed it.

Cut the gap out of the lower shroud amd put it in.

Fired up Lexia, and went into the BSi and Made Cruise and Speed Limiter "Present" and hey presto and display on the speedo showed it up.

So getting all excited, flicked the switch to speed limiter and the set speed adjusted.. however, the car didn't limit to it!

Changed it to Cruise, and the display switched, got to 40mph and pressed the + button to activate it (YES the cruise should work at 40mph, it works at 25mph PLUS) however, the three Dash's just flashed at me, and didn't work!

So the stalk it working, but the system wouldn't work. Anyone got any idea why this might be?

Would it be the fact Design is a lower spec then LX and doesn't have the Brake light switch curicuit in it or clutch pedal switch??

Any ideas ?

Thanks

On our C4 Picasso, cruise only works in 4th or above.... Don't you also need to go into the engine ECU and set it present (where it is called something random like RVV)?

service.citroen doesn't show a separate or different brake pedal switch, but it does show the clutch swtich separately - should be able to check with the VIN if it is fitted. IIRC you can check the operation of the switches via Diagbox / Lexia.

Hi Richard,

As post, I went into lexia and switched the BSi config to Cruise and limiter Present.

Ill have to go into again and look at the Switch's.. thing is with all this later BSi and table, where do I find the bloody switch parameters... LOL.

Ive had a trawl round Service Citroen now with the ACTUAL VIN number off mums car.

I assume this shows only items that are fitted to the car.

Under clutch pedal it shows a clutch switch, so I assume its all fitted to the car then.

Ill do some check with lexia see if the switches are working etc and go from there.

Never done a retro fit on a mk 2 but check in the injection ecu menu & set RVV (cruise) + LVV (limiter) to present.
The other thing is cars with speed limiter function also have a 'hard spot' on the accelerator pedal which is a switch on the underside of the pedal, it bypasses the speed limiter function if you floor the pedal hard in an emergency. The systems may not work if this is not fitted.
Id say your right about the brake & clutch switches.

Hi all,

Sorted this. It appears afterall that ALL trim levels already have ALL the wiring for the cruise already installed in the cars.

This is because mums 2005 C5 Phase 2 is a Base "Design" model. Though already has ABS/ESP, Air Con, Electric windows all round, Alloys, rear wiper, trip computer etc, I beleve the Phase two cars spec were all upgraded!

Anyway. As above, I installed the Cruise stalk, easy too, undo two torx, lower the bottom trim, remove a covering plate and slide the cruise stalk in.

Then with a Lexia there TWO areas that need a change of configuration, BUT you need an ECU writing code to do it. I was lucky enough to obtain it from my local dealer

I changed the BSi to Cruise present, however got stuck after that. It was "wheeler" who then also sugested changing the Injection ECU, as in the engine ECU, so the "Car" knew cruise was there but the engine didn't, did the Injection ECU change went down the road and Hey Presto!! IT WORKED!! The speed limiter didn't but thats not important!

The Screen under the Speedo was already to display the cruise info!

Happy people now, and learning fast how to use it to!
