Mk1 2004 VTR C5 Estate 2.0l HDI Suspension?

Post by howiedean »

Hi,

My Citroen C5 estate now has just over 90000 miles on the clock and as far as I know has not had any work on the suspension.
Based on the age and mileage what would be the best course of maintenance as the car is still nice and smooth over the bumps?

Regards,

Howie

Fluid clean and full change.
Brake fluid changed
Remove rear calipers and clean/replace
Check the rear arm bearings....any "noise"...change them

Cheers for that.
Now for the Hyd fluid change do I have to have a Lexia or is there an alternative solution?
The rear suspension is very quiet so should be OK with that, oh and I've kept meaning to look at the rear brakes.

Thanks,
Howie

EDIT...DO NOT USE this.....HydroFlush is what you need, it is added (as described) and used in the system for about 500-1000 miles, then everything is changed, filters cleaned etc...Never use TOTAL HYDRAURINCAGE insystems using synthetic brake fluids. edit..NOT for C5/C8....I don't think you need a Lex for your car.
Change the bake fluid as well, it will (it seems) assist in preventing handbrake seizing on the front....The rear calipers, well the mounts will need cleaning (of the corrosion) and it is well worth checking the disks are OK as they are often "forgotten"

Would you use Hydraflush on a C5? It uses LDS fluid. I thought Hydraflush was for LHM systems. Just a thought.

I am sure you shouldn't use hydroflush on a C5. To be honest, I wouldn't bother using it on anything, I've never seen it make any difference or come out any dirtier than it went in on the 5 LHM cars I've used it on.

On your C5 I'd just put fresh LDS in,and change it on time.

As I said before, I thought a C5 uses LDS fluid? Wouldn't LHM cause damage?

Yes James , of course it does. I've edited my post. I was thinking it did bugger all on the Xantias and XM I used it on.

Well, green blooded Citroens! I have used it, and, while I cannot honestly say I have seen a performance difference, I have seen a lot of crud come out with a flush cycle.

When I drained my Activa, the LHM that came out was like manky old ale with bits in. I cleaned the filters, rinsed the tank out with petrol then I ran it for 2000 miles with hydroflush in, which came out clean as a whistle. I had similar experiences with my old green estate, the 1.8 petrol and one of my XMs.
