Xantia Heating

Post by 2smv627 »

Hi, our Xantia TD (1995 non-AC) has very little heat coming out of the windscreen vents. If you set it for the windscreen you can get hot air out of the facia vents just luke warm on the screen. The cables all seem to be operating I`m just wondering if perhaps the flap for the screen isn`t opening fully, typically its the only one I can`t see.
Just wondered if anyone has any thoughts.

I would suspect what you suspect. Can you get to the other end of the cable and move it from there? Shutting the facia vents will increase the flow of air elsewhere.

Hi, I have found that the sponge seal between the heater duct had disintegrated so have sealed it with some duct tape - it is better but still doesn`t push out lots of heat through the top. I am wondering if perhaps the matrix is a little blocked as I find if you leave the fan off for a bit and then switch it on it starts off blowing nice and hot and gradually cools off (The car has been parked for a couple of months)

Same problem here - hardly any flow through the windscreen vents even in defrost mode. All the cables behind the controls are working fine, at least at the control end. If I need to get the windscreen defogged in a hurry I have to close the middle facia vents to increase the flow to the windscreen, but even then its pretty feeble...

No problem with the temperature though, just a lack of flow.

If it cools after its been used for a while that sounds like air in the heater matrix, try bleeding the heater hoses where they go through the bulkhead.

Hi, I`ve bled the system a few times, after flushing matrix a couple of times.
I may just give it to brother to use for a week (putting a good few miles on it) and see if it improves, perhaps give another flush out next weekend.
