C4 HDi 1.6 intermiitent non start

Post by paulbx »

Hi folks

long time since i posted to this excellent forum.
my wifes C4 (05 plate) twice now has refused to start but leave it for say 10 mins and it fires up normally.

Battery seems good , electrics all seem to work, turn ignition switch - nothing
Any ideas my wife said the other day teh plip did not work and she had to open with teh key however its working again now.

Faulty ignition switch?

Paul

Immobiliser not recognising the key. Just guessing really, but if the remote fob has been erratic it's one possibility. Time for a remote battery change?. Don't know the cost of a battery for it, but the wife's Renault one was a couple of quid at most. Hopefully it's nothing too serious.

Sometimes the change doesn't work.

The battery in the key is only for the remote locking part, the immobiliser part doesn't need a battery, the car should still start even with the battery removed from the key. If I remember right on the C4 it will come up something along the lines of 'anti theft system active' in the central display if the key is not recognised. Trying the spare key when it next doesn't start wont do any harm though.
