Headlamp alignment Citroen C3 SX '52 Plate

Post by purplemk2 »

Wife's C3 failed MOT, due to nearside headlamp alignment being too high. No sound of motor, but the adjuster wheel on the dash is not moving the motor, although the offside headlamp seems okay. Reluctant to pay for new headlight to find that it's a switch issue. Is there any cast-iron way of finding out whether it's a headlight or a switch issue? Any help gratefully received.

Have you confirmed its not something daft like the bulb fitted 180 degrees the wrong way, this will cause the beam pattern to be wrong. Have you tried adjusting the lamp manually ?

Headlight passed MOT last year and no work done since. I thought the wheel on the dash was the only means of adjustment. Are you saying there are manual adjusters on the lamp itself? Couldn't find any mention in Haynes' manual.

Many thanks, I'll check it out in the morning. Clock ticking on the re-test!
