Garages for a C5, Hampshire/Sussex/Surrey please?

Hi,
I have a C5 estate with a significant 'clonk' in the rear suspension. It's also a bit vague at motorway speed, particularly in the crosswinds we've had lately.
I took it to a local garage chap I know, but he is not keen to get involved as he is busy and feels the repair could get complex.
He noted some wear in a ball joint at the bottom of the suspension unit.
I'm near Fareham in Hampshire, so would like any recommendations for knowledgeable garages who might be able to help.
The car is an unashamed old banger, 170,000 on the clock, but I've recently put new tyres on it, but in the last 500 miles the clonk is getting worse.
I'd like to a) be sure it's (reasonably) safe and b) get another year out of it.
It's a bit slow but it gives good mpg and does not use oil or water.
I don't have facilities for significant DIY work at the moment.
I don't even have a clear idea of what the suspension bits look like, or what can be refurbished.
All suggestions gratefully received!

theres no ball joint involved in the rear trailing arm/s bearings,

there can and has been complications,

seized suspension push rod clips and seating cups,
plus the dreaded corrosion between the arm and brake calipers,

i usually allow 2.5 hours a side if it all goes straight forward
