Headlight flickering? xenon sort.

My drivers head light is sometimes flickering. Will it be the bulb or the ballast?

Has anyone used the cheap bulbs from ebay or is it best to pay £70 for a pair of Phillips bulbs?

Is the ballast part of the light unit or can it be replaced separately?

well out off times ive seen its been an unstable live feed

Will check the wiring today.
May just get some cheap bulbs to try as well.

I'll be interested to know how you get on with the cheap bulbs - they are ridiculously low in price, and I've wondered before about getting a pair to keep as spares.

try running a straight live fro battery to affected bulb..if same then also try direct earth..if it dont fix it then its bulb or balast ;(

Ordered the above, will see how they perform next week. Drove for 30 mins today and did not notice any flickering.

Does anyone where the ballasts are located, under the head light?
Does the head light come off without removing the bumper?

The ballasts are fitted to the underside of the headlamp unit. I have photo's somewhere, damned if I can find them

Mine is a series 1 C5 and the bumper does have to be removed for access to the lights. I'm sure yours will be the same.

Not sure on the X7 but easier than the phase 1 I believe. Takes me around ten minutes to remove and I don't work quickly. About fifteen to replace if I can find the fasteners

EBay bulbs turned up and fitted...........verdict is rubbish! !

They are supposed to be 4300k colour more like 8000 +. They match the colour of the led side lights and nowhere near as bright as the Osrams I removed.

I have now replaced with a branded set of Ring Oem spec ones and they are superb cost £36 each trade price. Rings are really bright and really light up the signs and hedges and more a daytime yellow colour.

i bought 6000k..pure white they go well with the leds..its matching the fogs i found hard without putting hids in them
send them back and say there wrong colour

Not sure why people would fit lower output bulbs just to look better from the outside. I want the best possible light output and not at all bothered about the colour the safer the better.
