Removing 2.0 TCT engine and other Activa thingies

Post by xantos »

Well decided to remove the whole engine as the head is a PITA to remove. I managed to split the head from the engine block and I saw that the cooling channels are completely blocked. Have to clean them thoroughly and in the process I will also change the piston rings and check the turbo.

Anyone has some tricks that could help me removing the engine? And any other things I should do when the engine is out?

Here is how it looks now. Million things need to be disconnected...

I don't know where you are but if you want a replacement TCT engine I've got one for free as i need the space. It's located near bedford.

As for taking the engine out it's not that hard really, just keep on taking bits off that go from car to engine :)

The worst bits are the exhaust spring bolts and the o/s shaft can get stuck.

That would be great but unfortunately I live in Slovenia, where we by the way drive on the right side of the road

You mean the wrong side of the road! :P

I hope you have an engine crane and load leveller. It will be very useful.

They are quite blocked hey!
Any idea what caused them to clog up so much??
I seem to remember from some of the 205 drivers that with minor mods the tct can make good power gains, porting & polishing etc. Cam, With forged pistons you can clear 200brake with not too much bother!

I don't know why are they so blocked, but I have cleaned them so now they are free.

I am very much interested in power gain if you have some more information...

I think all you need for more smiles is a manual boost controller. It only runs 7 psi or something stock, but you can go up to 12 or 13 withouth putting the overboost light on, then it goes like a scalded cat!!

On mine I stripped the head then ground and polished the ports. The turbo manifold on mine had a rather rough finish internally and a large lump that must have been part of the casting process so I ground the lump out and smoothed the surfaces. Dropping in a quality clutch is usually worth while.

A bit of update.

Head grinded, valve seals changed, valve seats grinded.
Since I have the engine out decided to change the steering rack valves. As far as I know they tend to leak when you put hydrorincage into the system.
I ordered them at Citroen main dealer, price about 40eur, part.nr.: 4048.Q8. Hopefully I will never have a LHM leak again.
