VTS front wheel bearing.

Post by daviemck2006 »

I am thinking that I need a wheel bearing on the VTS. Has anyone done one? And anyone know how much the bearing would cost and how much labour it needs to do the job? It's the front drivers side one.

Last time I had one done was on my Focus back in 2011, it cost me £85 all in at a local Ford specialist. I'd expect any FWD car to be about the same.

In Xantia front wheel bearing was replaced in garage. If I remember correct it took about 1.5 hours.
The bearing was removed when the press load reached 12 tons :)
Bearing it self does not cost much, tip: to get an idea check prices from ebay.

I just looked at the mot, I knew there was an advisory on a ball joint with slight play and it's on the same corner so it will make sense to replace it at the same time. I think I would manage the hub off ok, and that would mean the iffy ball joint will be split anyway. My future son in law is an engineer at Scotrail, he may have access to a press to swap the bearing. I need t speak to him.
