XM immobiliser lock down

Post by nickfulham »

HEEEELP!!
XM 2.5 TD. I removed a fuse, to see if it was blown and the
engine immobiliser has locked down.
Is there a way to start from scratch??
Thanks,

Hi
Cannot help with an exact cause but may give some advice that might help.
Just before I gave my car into a Citroen garage, I tried changing the immobiliser code to 0000, i.e. off. Unfortunatley did not work and I was left with an immobilised car. Took 2 1/2 hours with all the Citroen equipment, until the connection to the keypad was tried. Loose connection!!
The symptoms were that the green and red lights were both illuminated. Did not respond to input. They tried all sorts. Taking off battery resetting ECU (using Citroen equipment).
Try un-seating the connector at the keypad and re-seating if not too much trouble.
Sorry if this is not too much insight.
Best of luck

Hi All,
Thanks for your input thus far.
The ELIT machine is saying "CANNOT COMMUNICATE" or "NO CONTACT"
so Mr Citroen is saying a new ECU is required.
This is a soft option cop out (plus loads of money for le froggies!)
and I can't believe it's the answer to the problem.
Any more thoughts - apart from RIP THE KEYPAD OUT!!
Thanks and regards,
Nick

I was getting exactly the same when he connected the equipment. As I said turns out it was a dodgy connection.
Might be worth a check of the earths, etc.
Definitely cheaper than buying a new ECU!

if the diagnostic machine can't get dialogue with the keypad/ECU then the chances are the ECU is missing a full 12v feed somewhere or a bad earth.take off & clean all the main earths, you will then have to get a wiring diagam & check for your constant & ignition feeds, when you check these feeds use a voltmeter AND a test lamp (it may still give 12v but have lost current),do the same at the keypad connector.i would not condemm an ECU till i had checked all of this.

Hi All,
Thanks your input.
I did point out to Monsieur Citroen that I had seen burn/scorching on a wire under the keypad.......he took no notice.
ECU has now been tested and fine, even my code still in brain!! will be returned to me set at 0001 so never need to use pad again - hooray ( co called ALL ECU's in Rugeley,Staffs)
Another guy, LES at Citroen CENTRE, ERITH (01322 332223)assured me the problem was
keypad (wish I'd listened) and he'd sort it in a couple of hours...
He says diesel no problem, petrol, forget it!!
So,the morale is Citroen dealers know squat - hands on people do.............
Hope this will help.
Regards,
Nick Fulham
