2002 C5 HDi LX fault code reading
Hi All
Tried my cheap OBD2 ebay jobby on the port in the glovebox, couldn't even get it to fit on! Is there any way I can get to the fault codes without resorting to spending big bucks on a garage?

It really needs a Lexia attaching to read the codes properly, whereabouts are you?

Well, I'm 40 miles away and will stick it on the Lexia for you down here near Reading, I'm not sure when I'm passing up the M1, there's likely someone nearer who will give you a quick Lexia session for the price of half a can of cider or whatever the forum standard price is these days
Have a look on the old Lexia map here and ask nicely..

I'm sure one of us can help you out..

There's loads of information about Lexia clones on here, I'm no expert. The recommended ones seem to come from easydiagnostics.co.uk , they're a bit more expensive, but you'd not have a problem flogging it on here or eBay once you've finished with it. It all depends how much you're going to use it.

The C5 uses the standard 16pin EOBD connector. Generic eobd or obd2 scanners will work on C5 petrol models. Most of them work on C5 diesels which have the Bosch injection system. They generally also work on the HDI versions of the synergie, Xsara and Xantia. However I have never got them to work on a pre 2004 HDI with Siemens injection.
Many of these cheap generic code readers also give live data which is often more useful that fault codes in diagnosing problems. Even Eobd compliant vehicles do not present all faults to Eobd code readers. The regulations only specify that emission related codes are presented. For example a faulty camshaft position sensor will stop the engine from starting. This does not affect emissions and so in many cases does not appear as a fault code to a generic code reader. Citroen are not the worst when it comes to this living by the letter of the law.

Re: 2002 C5 HDi LX fault code reading
I was trying the right way around, checked several times!! Just got a linking error (which is the same message I got on my old petrol 306)
Happily the little yellow plastic piece has come out of the OBD2 port now as well and is stuck in the plug on the code reader! Will get some needle nosed pliers on the case!
Would love to get torque, but no point spending if it isn't going to work.
Am in contact with CitroJim, who is getting back to me with times I can come see him and get a reading from him!

Re: 2002 C5 HDi LX fault code reading
UPDATE! After a very helpful trip to see CitroJim, his Lexia pointed towards the MAF sensor! He then very kindly showed me where it was!!
So will be off to Citroen to source a new sensor on Monday!
