I notice there are other similar posts for this but on much later citroen's, maybe a daft question but one I am sure all citroen lovers will know.
A spanner icon shows up when the cars ignition coming on with roughly 2.5k left and it looks like its counting down, i think this will be a total of 55k by the time it does.
The history of my car has dealership stamps on servicing history but I have done oil / filters / brakes / fluids myself / spheres ( my fault and have replaced ), cambelt in history done at 45k i think of the top of my head also.
Is this just a general counter set by the last garage that serviced it? Can i reset the counter myself and is this just a "friendly" reminder to take the car to get serviced or am i going to find that iam not going to be able to start the car or something daft when it reaches 0?

Re: Xantia Spanner icon on dash
You can consider that as a "friendly" reminder only ... the counter is resettable, I think by pressing down the counter button with no ignition, and then turning the ignition while still holding the counter button (ignition, but no need to start the engine) ...
Re: Xantia Spanner icon on dash
Yes, it's just the service interval reminder which counts down a pre-set mileage for the type of engine. For my V6 its 12.5k miles but other engines may vary. Once it counts down to zero it will flash zero when you turn the ignition on.
As said you can reset it by holding down the trip counter button for about 5 seconds while turning on the key. It's nothing but a reminder - I reset mine when I did oil and filter changes recently, even though I would change the oil well before 12.5k its good to have an extra reminder if you lose track of when they were last done...

Phew ! great news.
I think i i have only done around 2k since doing oil and filters, will reset accordingly or for whatever i should be doing around 55k and onwards. Cheers.

Re: Xantia Spanner icon on dash
I remember in my Xantia service interval was 15000 km (9320 miles according to converter) but I changed oil every 10000 km (6213 miles)
In C5 it is 20000 km (12500 miles) and I still keep it as 10k km.
