What is that big metal can that sticks out of early n/a XUD exhaust manifolds? I guess it's some kind of resonator or damper or something, right? Is it just an exhaust noise reduction device, or does it serve some more important purpose like help improve scavenging or tune exhaust geometry or something like that?
Does removing it cause any detriment?
Thanks
