Replacing Xantia Throttle Cable problem

Post by Karl »

I`m having problems getting the throttle cable off the engine side of the bulkhead, any advise as to what I`m doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

The cable has a rubber ball on it which fits into a rubber socket, this forms the seal between the engine and passenger compartments, the socket is really just a specialy shaped grommet and care must be taken to prevent it from leaving the hole it sits in as they are a right bugger to get back in again.
Look which side of the bulkhead the grommet is on, if the bulk of it is on the passenger side then knock or pull the ball and cable into the engine compartment, if its on the engine side knock it into the passenger compartment, the gromet should stay put if you do this, if you get it wrong it can easily disengage from the sheet metal.
Try to get some sort of rubber friendly lubricant to it like diluted washing up liquid, this will also help to get it back it again without difficulty.
