Exactly what is happening. Can't hear the "bang" when driving my friends X7

Yes. I know that the front lowers when on the motoroway but this shouldn't happen when stationary. Good idea to check some photos from ones that are on sale

They don't look lower at the front

and one that looks like it was left at the service position

Have to say, you've not picked the best pictures to show the car from the side. Always difficult to judge when shown from an angle. I looked at some from exactly side on when I said they looked lower at the front.

Once again, can't someone measure his/her C5 X7 with hydractive suspension (from pavement to the top of the front wheel arch) and share the results here, so osx can compare that with his situation? I can measure from my car, but it has regular suspension ... but I'd think both suspensions should be on the exact ride height when normal and stationary ... no? You could also factor in the wheel size (the X7 does have a wide span of possible tyres fitted, from 16in to 19in), but it shouldn't make such an obvious difference, IMO ...

These look fine. Mine is at least an inch lower.

Spheres don't affect ride height, so no.

What about LDS fluid levels?

Could be wrong, but I would have thought low fluid level would have an equal effect on all four corners.

The front and back behave differently as for example the back will start rising first when you increase the ride height and the front will dip first when you reduce it.

Yes, I know. I meant that low fluid level would affect the whole of the suspension system as far as heights are concerned, not just make the front lower.

If the priority is to keep the rear at the correct height (makes sense as the rear suspension has to deal with variable loads) then you would expect an impact on the front if the LDS levels are not correct? Just a thought
