You missed off the words "door handles" from the end of your post.

That's a good idea  Did you know that it's also a good Antiseptic?
Although this information doesn't have any help in this case, it just came to my mind :)

lol

I seem to be settling on recirculate, when I first switch car on - and have no intention of moving it,,(if I choose windscreen I cant have recirc and vice versa it seems - no idea which is better, one is very noisy though)

however, once it begins to clear and warm, recirc off and , sounds odd, but front windows down.. so I dont breathe more fog.,.the heating isn't doing anything by this time anyway..

but agree, prevention is best, with something stopping the screen meeting the air.. the other windows I don't care so much about.. the sooner I can see ahead the sooner I get heat..

I despair at people those that spend 20 mins making sure very 1/4 light is perfectly clear before driving off..

I'd imagine that peeing on the ice should melt it. Won't be too hot and the additives should help stop re-freezing.

Of course, this might get you some odd looks!
Just make sure that the old chap does'nt touch the screen! :rofl2:

1st off, I'm impressed you all can p**s that high !, to reach the screen is impressive :)

Personally the thing that gets in my way are frozen door seals and not locks, I keep them well cleaned with PJelly in the winter

but

BEWARE....splash back and strong winds. and a reminder....Yellow SNOW is BAD and IS NOT lemon flavored ice that was worth the 6pence my brother once paid me for some :)

Engine heater together with a interior heater. That saves the environment, your back, your car, minor problems with icy windows and the heat comes faster from the radiator :-) In almost all nordic countries these things are very needed, especially when the mercury goes down towards -10, -15 degrees Celcius. Well, it costs some money to fix it but those money is saved very fast. Depending on outdoor temperature 30min to 1-2h are enough :)

Know what you mean. Great car all the same. I had a 9-3 TiD sport before my C5. Very quick, but hard on my old bones sometimes.

If anyone is daam LAZY to cover the screen with a cover that traps in the doors, then you deserve to be scraping your screen. :-D

However, I DO agree that warm ish to COLD water is perfectly surfice, however, if done too soon the inner screen mists over rather quickly. Well, it does for me anyway..

If a garage is not available then the cover is a way to go... but people who can leave their car running for half an hour must have too much of something or another...

Pointless IMO idling for ages. Just tested this now. It's 2c on my outside thermometer. Had to nip out. From stone cold, the Berlingo is blowing out warm air in 1.8 miles, which took me about 4 minutes and I never went over 2000rpm.

A bit of gentle re working on a HDI 110 Exclusive would have a park heat function working im sure.

Remember the days of people lighting things under the engines and stuff and leaving them like that overnight? I certainly dont but my dad recalls it...

I need to get my Rangey fixed ASAP as i miss pushing that button in the morning :(
2 stage de-icing the XM isnt fun in your dressing gown, though i do all the windows and the lights with each kettle full of water and its still ice free after i go back in and get my shower and a quick drink :D
