Home again. Great trip.

Post by qprdude »

Return trip from Woking was as good as it gets. The C5 was again supremely comfortable and able . No real hold ups. A couple of 50 mph sections of the M6 but no queues on the Northbound journey.
Woking to Carlisle(stopover)...317 miles. 4 hours and 35 minutes....40.3 MPG.
Carlisle to Inverurie....248 miles. 3 hours and 38 minutes...39.7 MPG.

Boot and back seat/floor fully loaded.

Total return trip miles a shade under 1200 miles, including local journeys.

To be honest, I've been doing these trips for 42 years, some from Cornwall, but mostly from in and around London, in various vehicles, and the C5 is the most accomplished long distance car by far.
On reaching Carlisle last night, I actually wished that we hadn't booked a stop-over as I wanted to keep driving all the way. I felt that I had only been driving sedately for an hour or so instead of belting along for 4 and a half hours.

Hope it ain't raining tomorrow because the car sure needs a good wash.
Rick.

That's a fair commute time for 38 miles? I'm guessing Airport roundabout was your first big hold up. I remember it well. Inverurie to Baker Oil tools at B.O.D could be a nightmare in wintertime. Not looking like rain tonight so far. We still have plenty snow on the street.

No, it's not clean yet. I'm thinking about giving it a wash but the street is a mass of ice and I don't want to add to it. I'm also thinking, is it worth washing it when its going to get filthy in minutes?
Airport was my worst jam, as I avoided the Haudagan by going via Presley to B.O.D. If funds get low, I might have to consider the daily battle once more.
